How to get network printer(Configured in Windows) status from linux.

Hi

I configured a network printer HP (Configured in Windows network) through Cent OS in VMWare using the printer configuration.

Now I can print files from the linux itself.

But i need the status of printer i.e "media -tray -empty -error" through c program if the paper is not present in the tray using the CUPS APIs.

I have written program but it is returning "none" only....

Is it possible , Can any body help....
