Having installed some new systems with Redhat Enterprise 5 and CUPS 1.2.4 we are experiencing a problem that was not present in out previous installation on Redhat Enterprise 4 and CUPS 1.1.

When a document contains the "£" (British pound) character, it does not print out and the following errors are recorded in /var/log/cups/error_log

If the "£" character is removed then the document prints without problems.

I [13/Jan/2009:11:46:25 +0000] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/texttopaps (PID 29493) for job 2525.

E [13/Jan/2009:11:46:25 +0000] PID 29493 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/texttopaps) stopped with status 1!
E [13/Jan/2009:11:46:25 +0000] PID 29494 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/pstops) stopped with status 1!

Does anyone have any ideas or advice as to how we can solve this problem please?
