double spacing on laser printers due to CR/LF sequence?

I just upgraded to CUPS 1.2.4 on CentOS 5.2 (cups 1.2.4-11.18.el5_2.3).

Now all my print jobs with CR/LF sequences are coming out double spaced.
If I use dos2unix to strip the CR's then this doesn't happened.

It fails on HP Laserjets and Brother Laser printers. So, it seems like a
general CUPS problem. It used to work fine on CentOS 4. I am using all the
default recommended drivers.

What can I do to fix this?
