Odd HOST-RESOURCE-TYPE: hrDeviceMem

We have a security device between the server and an HP LJ 4300 printer. I set it up in CUPS as a generic/text-only printer. It is having a problem with the raster image. I did an snmpwalk per the CUPS documentation to check it out and it reported the HOST-RESOURCE-TYPES as hrDeviceMem.

Could this be the reason it is not sending a pure ASCII text data stream to the printer? Is there any way around this (i.e. mime.convs entry).
