Setting printer options?

If I understand, you want to use only black cartridge.

Ok, well, I would say to be sure CUPS is happy to print
with all cartridges first, then try just the black one.

And also it is useful to know about your PPD file.
If HP 3930v is PostScript, certainly use the HP PPD
(get from HP web site and download if you dont)
