ssl and localhost redirect issues

I have my cups server (1.3.9) complied and configured to use ssl and that seems to be working fine for me. I can access the server at https://fqn.com and all is well until I try to modify a printer or stop a printer. When I try to perform these options my browser gets sent back to 127.0.0.1:631 which has no context to a browser on a remote workstation. Am I overlooking something obvious?
