[cups.general] HP LJ4+ (postscript) and invalidfont

Hello,

I have used my postscript-capable HP Laserjet4+ from various distros
in the last 15 years, never had any problem. But since Ubuntu-8.10
and opensuse-11.0, some programs (notably konqueror, firefox, oowriter)
produce output like that:

  ERROR: invalidfont
  OFFENDING COMMAND: show

  STACK:

  ( )

Other programs (dvips, a2ps, oowriter, testpage from yast's printer
configuration tool) continue to work pretty fine. Strange enough,
oowriter seem to work on my laptop, but not on my desktop.

There are no errors recorded in /var/log/cups/error_log:

I [09/Mar/2009:22:04:57 +0100] [Job ???] Request file type is application/postscript.

I have tried to use different PPDs like

  manufacturer-PPDs/hplip/HP_LaserJet_4_Plus-ps.ppd.gz
  manufacturer-PPDs/hplip/HP_LaserJet_4_Plus.ppd.gz
  manufacturer-PPDs/hp/HP_LaserJet_4.ppd.gz

but this did not help.

Any ideas?
