Getting the following error message in the CUPS browser interface when attempting to print to an HPDeskJet 6940 installed on a Windows XP Home machine attached to the network:

ERRgeneral (General failure.) opening remote spool

The device URI is smb://192.168.1.3/HPDeskjet, and the IP address is reserved in the router for the host machine, and has been confirmed on the host machine using command ipconfig.  This installation formerly worked and this error just started occurring today.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks and best regards to all.
