Yes this is possible. There are various ways to do this. I will
briefly mention PrintAgent which is a web based authentication system
written in Ruby. PrintAgent is an open source solution to this
problem. Details are available from : http://www.lucidsystems.org/printingworks/printagent
In addition, you may want to look at some of the follow me printing
solutions. Follow me printing solutions, store your print jobs on a
print server. Then when you authenticate at a specific printer
(possibly a computer next to the printer) the job is sent to the
printer and the your job is printed.
I believe that there are follow me printing solutions which are
compatible with CUPS and also that PrintAgent could be modified to
release to a specific queue.
