foomatic-rip failed

I've done as you instructed and the error_log doesn't seem like it offers much to go on. The only potential sign of trouble is here:

D [31/Mar/2009:15:43:11 -0400] [Job 216] --> This document is DSC-conforming!
D [31/Mar/2009:15:43:11 -0400] [Job 216] Found %RBINumCopies: 1
D [31/Mar/2009:15:43:11 -0400] Discarding unused printer-state-changed event...
D [31/Mar/2009:15:43:11 -0400] [Job 216] Job claims to be DSC-conforming, but "%%BeginProlog" was missing before first line with another"%%BeginProlog" comment (is this a TeX/LaTeX/dvips-generated PostScript file?). Assuming start of "Prolog" here.
D [31/Mar/2009:15:43:11 -0400] [Job 216]
D [31/Mar/2009:15:43:11 -0400] [Job 216] -----------

After this hiccup, it seems to find its stride until this log sequence:

D [31/Mar/2009:15:43:11 -0400] [Job 216] Wrote 1 pages...
E [31/Mar/2009:15:43:11 -0400] PID 29678 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip) crashed on signal 11!
D [31/Mar/2009:15:43:11 -0400] PID 29679 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/usb) exited with no errors.
D [31/Mar/2009:15:43:11 -0400] [Job 216] File 0 is complete.
E [31/Mar/2009:15:43:11 -0400] [Job 216] Job stopped due to filter errors.
D [31/Mar/2009:15:43:11 -0400] Discarding unused printer-state-changed event...
D [31/Mar/2009:15:43:11 -0400] Discarding unused job-stopped event...
D [31/Mar/2009:15:43:12 -0400] [Job 216] Unloading...

So, like I said it doesn't look like a lot to go on. If you feel this is still worth reporting as a bug, ( as opposed to some unfortunate foolishness on my part) then I'll file the bug as you suggest.

FWIW, cups version is 1.3.8, and samba is 3.3.2. I initially used cupsaddsmb with the Debian/Testing ppd file, but I then went to linuxprinting.org and got 2 more- 1 of which I had the website generate with a line-character limit of 39. All 3 attempts have resulted in the same failure.

Regards-
Gerry

The client can install the printer, but when I try to print a test page, the job stops and I get a "foomatic-rip failed" message. The Debian box can print to the printer, so i know that half of the equation is working.
