cups-lpd issue driving me nuts.

This should be extremely simple but I am having some sort of dumb attack.

I am running OS X 10.5 and need to share a printer with an ancient version of SCO openserver 5 - cups-lpd seems to be configured and accepting the job but...

cups is failing to actually print the job the log is:

E [05/May/2009:23:10:20 -0400] Create-Job: Unauthorized
E [05/May/2009:23:10:20 -0400] Invalid peer credentials for "_lp" - got 2, expected 26!

There does not appear to be any restrictions that I can see in the default cups configuration file. Any help getting this working would be greatly appreciated.
