CUPS-Embedded Maple Java Interaction

I am running Maple 12 on 32-bit Fedora F9.
Every time I try to print in Maple, I get
the error message "No print service". Maple
has an embedded Java (JRE 05 version). All
printing from all other programs works, so
I suspect the problem is actually with Maple,
but all the Maple tech support has to say is
that maybe I need to specify paper orientation option
in CUPS. I now have two books on CUPS, but I
have found nothing in either one about specifying
printer orientation (landscape or portrait) in
them. On the other hand, I have found two reports
via google in which the Maple print problem was
fixed by updating the embedded Java JRE in Maple
to the current (_u13) level. Maple tech support
suggested I upgrade the embedded Java JRE to level
13, but did not give complete instructions on how
to do the upgrade. I have made 2 requests for how
to do this, and neither has so far been answered.
I wonder whether the Maple tech support actually knows
how to upgrade the Maple embedded Java to the latest JRE.

So is there any known problem trying to print from Java
1.6 via CUPS?

Thanks.
