[cups.general] cups ignores options

"sides=one-sided" is the generic (IPP) way to specify simplex  
printing.  The CUPS API maps this to the corresponding vendor option  
(usually Duplex, but there are variants), while it looks like your  
alternate pdftops filter does not.
