The "Print Test Page" operation on the web interface prints the CUPS  
test page file. For CUPS 1.4, this file is a "banner" file (/usr/share/ 
cups/data/testprint) and is processed by the cgbannertopdf (Mac OS X)  
or bannertops (other OS's) filter.

On older versions of CUPS, the test page is a custom PostScript file (/ 
usr/share/cups/data/testprint.ps).

In both cases, the test page is processed using the usual filters for  
a printer.
