CUPS 1.4.2 imagetops isn't working -- the output is cascaded in some buggy way with missing pieces of the image. Examples:

Input:
<http://www.sonic.net/~qm/cups/imagetops/bug/imagetops.input.png>

Arguments imagetops was run with:
/usr/libexec/cups/filter/imagetops 819 ulmo sample.png 1 finishings=3 media=na_letter_8.5x11in number-up=1 scaling=100 job-uuid=urn:uuid:812c6160-9306-3736-6fe0-168632eea802 job-originating-host-name=localhost /var/spool/cups/d00819-001

Output:
<http://www.sonic.net/~qm/cups/imagetops/bug/imagetops.output.ps>

I'm getting similar results with all my image files.

Here's a second example input:
<http://www.sonic.net/~qm/cups/imagetops/bug2/imagetops.input.png>

Arguments:
/usr/libexec/cups/filter/imagetops 820 ulmo p06 Inspection Request Right.png 1 finishings=3 media=na_letter_8.5x11in number-up=1 job-uuid=urn:uuid:c34b9781-4c00-37a1-638d-a8a36b0c613d job-originating-host-name=localhost /var/spool/cups/d00820-001

Output:
<http://www.sonic.net/~qm/cups/imagetops/bug2/imagetops.output.ps>

Here is PPD:

The above diagnosis were obtained via wrapper scripts which gathered debugging information (inputs, arguments, outputs, etc.). The wrapper scripts were written and tested to give the same results as normal (having no wrapper scripts), and indeed, the examples above are the same as what was spit out of my printer.

I can do most of the work if I know where to look. How do I fix this thing?

Gentoo Core 2 Duo ("amd64" 64 bit system), but since this is pretty vanilla 1.4.2 stuff, I don't know how the distro has much to do with it at this point unless it's a library problem such as with PNG.
