Xerox phaser 8860

I have a Xerox phaser 8860.
I'm using the manufacture-supplied xrx8860.ppd

However, there seem to be some bugs with this ppd.
A really annoying bug is that I cannot print multiple copies of documents.
The number of copies to be printed is ignored.
I have tried printing pdf documents with okular and with acroread.
In both cases the number of copies is ignored.
However, if I print instead to my Samsung ML-2552W, the requested number of
copies is printed, which would seem to rule out some bug with cups/kde.
