OS is shown by:
/home/evansl/prog_dev/haskell/eml $ uname -a
Linux evansl-desktop 2.6.32-24-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Thu Aug 19
01:38:40 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Reading:
http://localhost:631/help/man-
lpr.html?QUERY=destination#THE_DEFAULT_DESTINATION
didn't help because it mentioned:
-P destination[/instance]
Prints files to the named printer.
however, it gave no indication of what printer names were available.
I tried:
lpinfo -v
and got:
/home/evansl/prog_dev/haskell/eml $ lpinfo -v
direct usb://HP/Officejet%20Pro%20L7500?serial=MY815640DH&interface=1
network lpd
network socket
file cups-pdf:/
direct scsi
network ipp
network http
network beh
direct hp:/usb/Officejet_Pro_L7500?serial=MY815640DH
network smb
direct hpfax:/usb/Officejet_Pro_L7500?serial=MY815640DH
However, the lpinfo man pages indicates these are either devices or
drivers, but lpr wants destinations. I've no idea what the relation
between drivers and devices and destinations. I've also tried
scanning lpadmin and lpoptions; however, none were any help :(
What I really want is to print my emacs buffer, but I;m guessing
that if lpr works, then this will be possilble.
Any help would be appreciated.
-regards,
Larry
