Well, that printer is not a PostScript printer - it speaks Epson's ESC/POS 
language.
I suspect you missed to save mime types and convs and possibly special 
filters/PPDs/interface scripts from your 1.3.9 installation.

Please describe how the printer was configured in your 1.3.9.
