[STR New]

In the enterprise space, DHCP enabled on remote networked printers is a
given. Where there are hundreds of printers that are moved between
networks, creating static IP assignments in DHCP is no better than
assigning and managing static IPs on the printing device itself. Managing
printers in CUPS requires external routines to check the validity of the
printer in CUPS with the networked device and updating devices when they
change.

If the device uri provided a "?host=hostname" functionality, relying on
NSS/NSCD to resolve hostname to IP address, maintenance of printers in
CUPS would be dynamic. NSCD is configurable for aging the cache should
the default be too lithargic.
