[cups.general] please help in basic questions

 When I use a2ps ( for text printing ), foomatic.log gives me following
error message :

lp: no default printer destination available.

 

When I am using spoolerless printing why this message (quit similar to
cups lp ) is coming ? Please help.

Dear All,

 

I am new to the foomatic printing and I tried to set up it on my box. I
have some basic queries, kindly help me out here.

 

1)      I have to print text, pdf and tiff documents on non-pdp printer.
Is it possible with foomatic-rip & ghostscript combination? I mean to
say without using any spooler and cups can we do it?

 

2)      I am able to print pdf ( via mpage, a2ps and enscript option)
but not able to print tex document via a2ps and enscript option. Kindly
let me know if mpage will help me to print it on non pdp printers or
shall I go for a2ps and enscript option ( if I have the requirement of
text, pdf and tiff printing on non-pdp printer ).

 

 

3)      A2ps and enscript shows me error like : lp: no default printer
destination is available. How can I get rid of it ?

4) Any good url to understand these related concepts and any link of how
to configure ?
