State of printer

Hello,

I have to create a site for my company allowing to post several waiter cups.

I have to add an option to count the number of Down printer.

For that I have to create a function php which uses the regular expression. But this solution is not reliable because I read in the order lpstat - p and tries to compare a chain which is found on all the printers down.

Exist there an order which turns over the state of a printer with a figure or codes instead of a message
