Libusb backend try to fetch from device serial number even if it is not
available. In my case, this cause my printer (Oki 14ex) to hang (won't
work at all till restart), and I'm unable to print anything.

I've attach small patch to prevent such behaviour. When iSerialNumber=0
(no serial available), omit serial number read from device.
