pdftk or alternative to print watermarks ?

Some time ago I hacked the pstops filter to add some features, among them
generating watermarks by extending the page-label handling.

If you are interested, I could gibe you the source code (based on CUPS 
1.3.5, but it will compile and run as well under cups 1.4.x.
