Hello,

CUPS-version: 1.3.7
OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.5 (2.6.18-194.el5)
I am printing huge amount of high resolution printing data. Pdf files with 10-20 pages and 100-600 mb.

I user local raw printer with lpd protocoll to send files to a xerox printing server (xerox cx700).

Cups generates in the spool folder:
c-Files (history)
d-Files (jobs)
and sometimes 000000x-Files

So one job may generate files like this:
0000001 00000002 00000003 0000004 0000005 c00001 d00001
This can be 2GB!

cupsconf has:
PreserveJobHistory On
PreserveJobFiles Off
AutoPurgeJobs Yes
MaxPrinterHistory 0

c-Files and d-Files will be deleted but the files beginning with 00000* not.

What are these files? How can I delete them so that my disc space is not spiking to 100%?

Greeting
sjaeger
