For PostScript printers the recommended driver is the vendor's own PPD. Often times they will offer options for color rendering intent, etc. that will provide you with better rendering for your documents.

Unfortunately none of the current printing code in CUPS provides ICC color management on Linux.  There was a program floating around that would generate a PostScript color rendering dictionary from an ICC profile, and you could use that to generate a JobPatchFile for the PPD, however I think you'll be happier just using the vendor PPD's color settings.
