difficulties with remote printer

Tim,
Thanks for not giving up on me. I've been doing everything I can think of, and have had no positive results. I must tell you how impressed I am with Ubuntu. Long ago I made a separate partition for "/" (12GB) and the rest for my "/home". This was in case of a disaster.
Well the disaster happened today. After removing and reinstalling many things I could no longer log in. I had to take the Ubuntu boot CD and use it. I decided to format my 12GB partition, since it was going to overwrite things anyway.
Ubuntu did its thing installing everything from afresh. There were a couple of glitches where samba things needed an update from synaptic but it worked. My /home directory was untouched and even my Virtual box works as before (after installing it of course). It is mind boggling just how good Ubuntu really is.

In any case, even with a totally fresh copy of Ubuntu, I STILL have the exact same problem. It is hard to imagine it is caused by hardware??

Here is the dump: (yona save and mydb are very real. Yona is my wife and she keeps a copy of her XP stuff on my Ubuntu.)
