Printing from Macbook Air to Fedora or Ubuntu

I have a Macbook Air. I also have two computers, each connected to a printer; one computer runs Fedora; the other runs Ubuntu. For a short time, the Air ACTUALLY "saw" the printer on the Ubuntu machine, but when I tried to print, things went south. Now, I'mk stumped why i cannot re-establish a connection from thje Air to the printer on Ubuntu (or Fedora, for that matter. Fedora actually FORBIDS me from setting the Air as an allowed user.
