The server I had configured with BrowsePoll in my local configuration like
this

BrowsePoll jsc-cups.zam.kfa-juelich.de:631

was unavailable this morning. Accessing the host and port with telnet
returned "connection refused". However, the cups error_log reports the
following:

E [28/Feb/2011:08:23:05 +0100] [cups-polld
jsc-cups.zam.kfa-juelich.de:631] Unable to connect to
jsc-cups.zam.kfa-juelich.de on port 631: Unknown host

which is misleading and leads to false assumptions about the cause of the
problem.

I'm using the Debian squeeze package of cups, "dpkg-query -s cups"
returns:
