Cups authentication problem

I am running cups on a linux box to print to a number of printers at different IP addresses. When I go to the Admin screen from the command line (lynx localhost:631) I can see the printers listed
   gussbbq Local Raw Printer
   Description: Guss BBQ
   Location: lpd://gussbbq.gotdns.com/lpd
   Printer State: idle, accepting jobs.
   Device URI: lpd://gussbbq.gotdns.com/lpd

Print Test Page Stop Printer Reject Jobs Modify Printer Configure Printer Delete Printer Set As Default

If I select "Modify Printer" it shows me the next screen:

                 Modify Printer daveprint
          Name: daveprint
      Location: lpd://76.226.79.217/lpd_________________
   Description: Green Lantern___________________________
                Continue

BUT... selecting "Continue" knocks me out back to the main admin screen and I can't modify the printer.

At this point there have been so many changes to the /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and other files that I need someone really knowledgeable to sort out the mess and get this working.

PLEASE contact me off list at dave at powerfulhosting.com or call 310-664-0565 and let me know what you think the cost would be. Dave
