Keep in mind that sending "STATE: none" is NOT the correct long-term solution. You should only change the state keywords that you "own" (the ones you set or clear) - sending "STATE: none" could potentially lose important state information that you are not managing, such as the "connecting-to-device" state (which affects power management on Mac OS X...)
