printer problem

i have a canon mp150 setup on one home network computer.  it works from the computer it is directly connected to and from my ipad, but does not work from the other computer on the network running ubuntu.  when i search for a network printer it finds it, but when i try printing to it, it just sits there with the status being 'connecting to printer'.  any suggestions on what the problem is?
