I have just tried to print manually with the same arguments and
environment variables like in case of the failure, but it works
out-of-the-box if I use the "lpd" directly like:
CUPS_CACHEDIR=/var/cache/cups CUPS_DATADIR=/usr/share/cups
CUPS_DOCROOT=/usr/share/doc/cups CUPS_FONTPATH=/usr/share/cups/fonts
CUPS_REQUESTROOT=/var/spool/cups CUPS_SERVERBIN=/usr/lib/cups
CUPS_SERVERROOT=/etc/cups CU
PS_STATEDIR=/var/run/cups HOME=/var/spool/cups/tmp
PATH=/usr/lib/cups/filter:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin
SERVER_ADMIN=root at RM696 SOFTWARE=CUPS/1.4.6 TMPDIR=/var/spool/cups/tmp
USER=root CUPS_SERVER=/var/run/cups/cups.sock CUPS_ENCRYPT
ION=IfRequested CHARSET=utf-8 LANG=en_US.UTF-8
PPD=/etc/cups/ppd/foobar.ppd RIP_MAX_CACHE=8m CONTENT_TYPE=text/plain
DEVICE_URI=lpd://172.21.36.88/ps  PRINTER_INFO=foobarPRINTER_LOCATION=
PRINTER=foobar CUPS_FILETYPE=document  /usr/lib/cup
s/backend/lpd 5 root hosts 1 "finishings=3 number-up=1
job-uuid=urn:uuid:ce0149da-e100-3da3-629f-73304d9e803f
job-originating-host-name=localhost time-at-creation=1308123461
time-at-processing=1308123461" /etc/hosts

Browsing the log further, it returns with a failure after the child
processing... Then again, cups is not verbose enough to notify about
the issue what went wrong. Please investigate when you have time!

Also, is there any suggestion for this issue ?

Best Regards,
Laszlo Papp
