Xerox Phaser 6010 usb id string not recognized by cups

I'm running openSUSE 11.4 (x86_64), with Cups 1.4

When I plug in my new Xerox Phaser 6010 printer via USB, it is recognized as a usb printer,  but not visible in Cups (e.g., http://localhost:631/admin/ > Add Printer does not see it).

After some experiments (see http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/hardware/461852-xerox-phaser-6010-usb-printer-not-detected-2.html),  I found that the following errors are added /var/log/cups/error_log each time I connect the printer:

My impression is that the USB identification string sent by the printer is not correctly parsed by Cups.

Should I enter this as a bug?
