Hi all,
I have an ubuntu (9.10) PC with a hp laserjet 3005 printer attached to it and I want to share the printer with couple of other XP/Linux machines on my network.
I have installed and configured the CUPS server and it works fine with all the linux based machines on the network.
The problem is when I try to connect the CUPS web server interface with "http://host-ip:631/printers/printer-name" on the windows based machines, I receive "access denied" from the server and interestingly nothing was recorded in log files!
After some searching in the forums I have found a work around solution:
The host machine name and IP address should be inserted into the "hosts" file of the windows client machines and then the web interface can be accessed with "http://host-name:631/printers/printer-name".
I was wondering why this happens and what is the correct solution for this on the windows machines.
Thanks
Arash
