[cups.general] changing the margins?

I read on some forums about

wget http://www.openprinting.org/download/printing/align.ps
wget http://www.openprinting.org/download/printing/alignmargins

I tried it out but no matter what I set the margins to it seems to
ignore them. Is there updates on how to set the margins?

I see that it adds lines to the ppd file in /etc/cups/ppd/<printer name>.ppd

*OpenUI *Margins/Page Margins/Offsets: PickOne
*DefaultMargins: Custom
*Margins Default/Driver Default: ""
*Margins Custom/Custom (set with 'alignmargins'): "<</.HWMargins[10 10
10 10] /Margins[-20 -20]>>setpagedevice"
*CloseUI: *Margins

but no matter what it sets it to there is no difference in my output.
