>From my experience with various sparc solaris versions (up to 5.11) there 
shouldn't be major issues, perhaps except you may need to specify
--disable-gssapi for configure unless you have very recent kerberos header 
files and libraries installed.

But I must admit I never compiled any cusp 1.2.x (only 1.1.x, 1.3.x, and 
1.4.x).
