CUPS character set (Ticket091911A)

Greetings,

Does CUPS even reference a character set when printing as a raw device?

We use Oracle Pasta upstream for all of our conversions and our printers have postscript modules installed, which has worked for several years. But some of our latin characters (accents) print as garbage. this is a solaris platform and the locales are set correctly, as the files display correctly with other utilities such as more and vi.
