Epson 4900 and cups

Be gentle, folks, because I somehow found about cups.org via my desperation.

I have an Epson 4900 and use the latest version of Snow Leopard (10.6.8). This is my problem(s):

A) When I load paper into the paper tray and print through Lightroom 3, the printer works.

B) BUT When I load through the rear manual slot (which is required for thicker papers) and print through Lightroom 3 I get one of two messages: (1) my printer paper source (i.e., roll or sheet) doesn't match the source chosen in the software; or (2) Error:cgpdftoraster:cups cupsRasterinterpretPPD had error: Unknown operator C135042317" (I think that's a "5," if not it's an "S").

Also, when I try to print via CS5 or an Adobe Print Utility, I get the second error listed above (i.e., Error:cgpdftoraster:cups).

Of course, I have no idea why I've been able to print via the loading tray but not through the rear manual slot.

Here are some of the things I've tried:

1) I've run Repair permissions (three times)(closed all programs, restarted computer);
2) deleted the Epson folder in my Library folder; uninstalled and reinstalled the Epson printer driver (three times);
3) double-checked all my Epson settings and made sure I have the latest Epson driver.

Any suggestions or help will greatly appreciated.
