That pdf has 600-dpi CCIT-Group-4-compressed bitmap images of each
6.72×9.80 inch page.

I tried having ghostscript render it to its pngmono DEVICE at 600 dpi
(which should simulate a typical mono laser or inkjet printer) and the
results looked fine w/ or w/o -dNOINTERPOLATE and w/ or w/o first
converting it to PostScript.

(I looked at it because I suspected that adding -dNOINTERPOLATE might have
solved it, but I could not reproduce the issue even w/o -dNOINTERPOLATE.)

If you printout has the pages scaled to fit the paper, rather than
centered on the paper, that probably explains your fuzzy output.

If so, changing settings to avoid scaling or stretching the print jobs to
fit the paper probably will solve this.
