[cups.general] /usr/libexec/cups/backend/usb failed

I'm using cups-1.5.2-r4 on Gentoo Linux.  A script prints to the
printer with lpr from a remote server.  The same script prints to
another LP2844 and a Brother laser printer without issue.

I should have mentioned that I can get it working again by "resuming"
the printer in the web admin.
