I suspect the lpd server on the embeddid Windows is a bit picky on some LPD 
options.
First, I'd try to add
?reserve=true
to the device_uri to force the LPD backend to use a reserved port (by 
default it does not).
If that isn't sufficient, I'd try other options in addition (perhaps you 
need to look into the source of the LPD backend to get a complete list of 
the URI options it supports.
