Did you notice the usual header in /etc/cups/printers.conf:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
# Printer configuration file for CUPS v1.5.3
# Written by cupsd on 2012-06-27 10:46
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE WHEN CUPSD IS RUNNING
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

For more information you may have a look at
http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:CUPS_in_a_Nutshell#General_information_on_the_command-line_tools

Perhaps you have to specify such filters in the PPD file
and not in /etc/cups/printers.conf.

Kind Regards
