Canon Pixma ip3600 Unable to select rear papertray

Thanks, it does indeed look like this problem. What is the easiest way to fix it? I have tried updating CUPS using the Ubuntu Updater, and have even re-installed CUPS using Synaptic, the reported version is 1.5.0-8ubuntu7, but this still does not work.

I looked at the patches on STR#3957 but I am unclear what I am supposed to do with them. Would I need to install CUPS by compiling it to make use of these, but I am out of my depth here I'm afraid.

I did download cups v1.5.2 -2012-02-05. Will this version be likely to work...if so, I am prepared to have a go at installing it following the install.txt. Never done this before, but more than happy to try to learn.

I guess the easy option is if anyone has built a .deb package that includes this fix. I've not located one anywhere so far.

The suggested work-around of using the printer menu options is not possible on the ip3600, since it has no 'paper select' button on the printer. My workaround is to have the ip4600 driver installed on Lubuntu 10.4 on another PC and swap the printer cable. Far from ideal especially since I need to upgrade from 10.4 for a host of other reasons soon.

<TIA> Paul
