Printing from Mac OS X 10.5.b (CUPS 1.3.11) to Linux server (Bonjour)

I can find the bonjour printer on the mac.  I can add it.  I can then print to it.   Usually once, sometimes twice.  Never a third time.  When it fails, nothing appears in the CUPS log on the server side (CUPS 1.3.10).  On the client side (mac) the printer goes from idle to busy - and the CUPS log shows the job queued.  Nothing happens after that.

There is only 1 way to unhang it - reshare the printer on the linux side.  Resetting the MAC printing system does no good, as the printer does not show up when you go to add it back.  Once reshared, it shows up and accepts 1 job, 2 if I'm lucky.  Then same thing.

Ideas?
