Does the printer print the page before it hangs?
Try to edit your cups1-52_fail.txt as follows:
change the line 1848 from
userdict dup(\004)cvn{}put (\004\004)cvn{}put
to
%userdict dup(\004)cvn{}put (\004\004)cvn{}put
thus making it to a PostScript comment and
print the file again to the printer as a raw job, and
post the result.
