> More information. When I try via the command line, I see this:
> lpadmin -p MFCJ6710DW -E -v usb:/dev/usb/lp0 -P /usr/share/cups/model/Brother/brother_mfcj6710dw_printer_en.ppd
> lpadmin: Success
> When I try then to access CUPS via the web interface, I cannot connect to the server and need to restart cupsd.
> When I do that the printer does not show up at all.
> I suspect after all my trying to use 1.6.1 adn going back and forth, there are some incompatible libraries or something causing the conflict, but I have no idea where to start or what to look for.
with the effort to create the printer, the error.log and access.log have no errors or messages other than the printer was created.
However, the message log shows:
Nov 2 20:39:32 localhost smbd: Could not find child 12783 -- ignoring
Nov 2 20:39:59 localhost systemd: cups.service: main process exited, code=exited, status=127
Nov 2 20:39:59 localhost systemd: Unit cups.service entered failed state.
Nov 2 20:40:32 localhost smbd: [2012/11/02 20:40:32.465222, 0] printing/print_cups.c:109(cups_connect)
Nov 2 20:40:32 localhost smbd: Unable to connect to CUPS server /var/run/cups/cups.sock:631 - Connection refused
At the moment the program tries to create the printer there is error status code of 127. I have seen this before. I need help pin pointing its source.
