[cups.general] How to install Fedora-18 cups under Fedora-17

I've been having a CUPS problem with my Samsung CLP-325 printer,
and opened a bugzilla
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=854989).

Tim Waugh kindly gave me the advice
-------------------------------
Package cups-1.5.4-5.fc18:
* should fix your issue,
* was pushed to the Fedora 18 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing cups-1.5.4-5.fc18'
-------------------------------

I'm running a standard Fedora-17 on my laptop,
and it is not clear to me how to install the above version safely.

If I give the command above I get (not surprisingly)
----------------------------
[tim at rose ~]$ sudo yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing cups-1.5.4-5.fc18
Loaded plugins: downloadonly, langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit
No Match for argument: cups-1.5.4-5.fc18
No package cups-1.5.4-5.fc18 available.
----------------------------

If I download the CUPS files from the Fedora 18 repository
and try to "yum localinstall" I get
----------------------------
[tim at rose CUPS]$ sudo yum localinstall cups-1.5.4-5.fc18.i686.rpm
....
Error: Package: 1:cups-1.5.4-5.fc18.i686 (/cups-1.5.4-5.fc18.i686)
           Requires: libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.16)
----------------------------

I'm reluctant to install this version of libc,
as I am unsure if it will cause problems with my F-17 system.

Is there any safe way of installing this F-18 version of CUPS?
