Can't login on localhost:631/admin

Hello.

This is on linux gentoo.

I'm trying to contact the server (version 1.6.1) by the web interface to add a new printer.

I have a pop-up window that appears and asks me for a username and a password.

I have tried 'root' with my Unix password, doesn't work.

I have tried 'lppasswd' as root in a terminal, and have set a password different from my Unix one (no complains from lppasswd); however, using 'root' and this other password, but didn't work.

When I first set up Cups, I had created an 'lpadmin' Unix groups, in which my user account (fab) belongs.

I have tried 'fab' and my Unix password in the Cups identification popup, didn't work.

I have used 'lppasswd' as fab in a terminal to set a password, tried it, didn't work.

I also have tried 'lppasswd -a fab' as root to set the pass for 'fab', but still no go.

So how can I reset my password and gain access to the server?
