Error message in Macbook print queue

I am seeing the following error message in my Wife's Macbook print queue when I try to use a shared printer.

"can't open `/private/var/spool/cups/tmp/50f0e8326e884'." (the last set of numbers and letters is always different).

Does this message have meaning to anyone who frequents these CUPS forums.
This is my first time in CUPS.

The Macbook is running OSX 10.6.8.
The shared Epson C120 printer is USB attached to a PowerMac G5 running OSX 10.5.8.

Both computer's System Prefs for Printer and Sharing are correctly configured.

Both computers are connected to the internet using a Verizon Fios router in my home.

The PowerMac G5 is connected to the Fios router using an ethernet cable.

The Macbook connects to the internet successfully using the Fios router's wifi signal.

The Macbook sees the Epson printer in its System Prefs Printer pane and shows its correct location.

When the Macbook sends a job to the printer, the steps in the print queue are the normal steps seen prior to successful printing. That is, the queue messages read: "Connecting to printer." then "Waiting for job to complete." then "Sending data." but then the dreaded message "can't open `/private/var/spool/cups/tmp/50f0e8326e884'." appears.

Other persons who visit with their Mac laptops have no problem using the shared printer from anywhere in my home, and the problem Macbook will successfully print without any error message if attached to the printer with a USB cable.

Any suggestions will be most welcome. If possible I would like to receive suggestion notifications by email.
