[cups.development] [RFE] STR #4257: Size of output PS file is very Big for even for A4 size print

[STR New]

1. Created a File device using
lpadmin -p printToFile -v file:/tmp/print.prn -P
/etc/cups/ppd/Generic-PostScript.ppd
2. Afer cupsenable & cupsaccept, invoked print using
lp -d printToFile -o media=A4 -o fit-to-page Image1.jpg
3. Tried for so many Images of different sizes, every time output
print.prn file size was 10 times bigger then Input Image file size. For
example if size of Image1.jpg is 3.698 MB then output PS/prn file size is
35.573 MB.
4. When I converted PS to PCL using GhostScrpt, PCL file size came down to
27.659 MB. 
5. Want to know the lp options for reducing output PS file size.
6. Is there any other way by which I can reduce output PS file size (for
example may be by changing input file from jpeg to png)
7. Please Help
